Are Christian virtues just for sissies, wimps, and other losers? Or is the fairest way for all of us to live? Let us check it out.

Jesus is the epitome of virtue. He is our example. We are to become "little Christs" imitate what he did. He wants to do us through until we are perfect. After Christ's lead, these are the virtues we must include: charity, courage, faith, humility, justice, knowledge, wisdom, obedience, perseverance, faithfulness, prudence, and moderation. These Christ-like trait is becoming an integral part of our new nature.

Some of the words like charity, prudence and moderation have either changed their minds over time or are no longer part of our current popular. A brief explanation of each can help. We'll take them in alphabetical order starting with. . .

He realizes the dignity and worth of human life. He impresses those ideals in our minds, as the magic of his poems, richness of imagination, deep knowledge of the natural, delicate description of the tenderest feelings of human heart. Indeed, he achieved brilliant success in his attempt.

Pithy Prose: the Wit & Wisdom of Robert Frost

Part 12 of an occasional series

I am a collector of quotations. I have been ever since I learned how to write, I mean professionally, not in primary school.

I am particularly fond of what I like to call “pithy prose”. These short quotations can cover an unlimited variety of subjects: love, religion, politics, human nature, etc. What unites them is their ability to say more in one or two sentences than could be expressed in a thousand-word treatise. It’s like being able to pour a liter of liquid into a half-liter bottle.

They are superb examples of Mark Twain’s famous dictum, “The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.”
